About This Project
The Challenge
This project involved updating a 20-year-old, 16,000-square-foot home originally designed in an Old World style. The homeowners wanted to bring the interiors into the present day while aligning the design with their personal style. The existing home featured dark color palettes, heavy wood tones, cherry hardwood floors, and layered drapery throughout, creating a more formal and dated feel.
The Approach
With strong architectural bones already in place, the focus was on thoughtful cosmetic updates to transform the overall aesthetic. We fully renovated the kitchen, hall bathroom, and primary bath to create a more current and functional design.
Dark wood elements were painted to brighten the spaces, and existing cherry hardwood and marble flooring were replaced with lighter-toned hardwood to create a more cohesive foundation. Walls were updated with a soft, neutral palette, and heavy drapery was removed in favor of plantation shutters to introduce more natural light.
Updated lighting and plumbing fixtures were selected throughout to complete the transformation and bring a fresh, cohesive feel to the home.
The Result
The finished home feels refreshed and current while still honoring its original character. The lighter palette and updated finishes create a more open, airy atmosphere, and the overall design now feels cohesive and intentional.
The result is a home that blends timeless architecture with a more livable, modern interior—perfectly aligned with the homeowners’ vision.
