About This Project

The Challenge

This project called for a one-of-a-kind mountain cabin designed to accommodate a large extended family and frequent guests. In addition to generous living and entertaining spaces, the home needed to provide ample storage and parking for multiple vehicles, recreational equipment, and snowmobiles—along with easy access to gear for days on the trail.

The Approach

We designed a six-bedroom, six-bath layout that balances shared gathering spaces with private retreats. A large bunkroom on the upper level, along with separate bathrooms, allows for flexible accommodations while giving guests their own space.

The main level was centered around entertaining, with a spacious kitchen, walk-in pantry, expansive dining area, and a large great room designed to comfortably host a crowd.

The lower level was tailored to support both recreation and storage, featuring a gaming room, family room, walk-in safe room, and a substantial mudroom designed specifically for snowmobile gear. Six attached garages provide generous space for vehicles, ATVs, and snowmobiles.

To achieve the home’s distinctive rustic industrial character, we sourced reclaimed wood and metal from a 100-year-old dairy farm. These materials, combined with heavy timber elements and wood siding, create a layered, authentic aesthetic both inside and out.

The Result

The finished home stands apart, with a character that feels both rugged and timeless. Reclaimed metal siding and soffits, paired with stone and wood on the exterior, give the impression of a lodge that has been part of the landscape for decades.

Inside, the home functions seamlessly for both everyday living and large gatherings. Reclaimed wood is used throughout for baseboards, window casings, moldings, and feature walls, while carefully sourced antiques add depth and authenticity. The result is a richly layered space with a natural patina—one that reflects the history of its materials while supporting the way the family lives and entertains.

I’ve worked with Lisa many times over the years. Her projects always feel in-style, well thought out, and unique. When she is involved in building or remodeling a home, she doesn’t just make it look pretty, she breathes life into it and gives it meaning. Everything is done with people in mind.
