The Philosophy Behind Thoughtful Interior Design

Design Should Be an Act of Refinement

We believe the most beautiful rooms are the ones where nothing competes for your attention. Where every material was chosen with intention, every proportion considered, every detail resolved long before construction began. Through thoughtful decisions and a disciplined eye, a home becomes quieter, more cohesive, and enduringly beautiful.

Built, Not Decorated

There’s a difference between a room that photographs well and a home that lives well. Lisa spent three decades on construction sites before she ever presented a mood board. That means we don’t just select finishes. We understand how they’re installed, how they age, and how they perform under the specific conditions of your home.

The Invisible Architecture

The electrical rough-in that accounts for your art lighting. The plumbing layout that makes your dream kitchen actually function. The ceiling detail that only works if the HVAC ductwork was rerouted three months ago. These are the decisions most designers never see. Lisa sees them because she’s spent her career on the other side of the wall.

Our Interior Design Process, in Four Phases

Every project follows four distinct phases. No ambiguity, no surprises. You’ll understand exactly where you are and what comes next, from the first conversation to the final installation.

01

Concept Development

We learn about your lifestyle, aesthetic and functional needs, translating these into a cohesive and personalised design vision and concept documentation.

02

Design Documentation

We transform the initial design concept into detailed plans, elevations and specifications documents that precisely guide the construction and design process.

03

Construction Period

We assist your building team in executing the design plans and oversee progress to ensure that the original design intent is preserved.

04

Furnishing and Installation

We curate, purchase and install furniture and accessories to complete your space.

Luxury Interiors Across Sarasota

Custom Residences and Home Renovations

Ground-up builds and complete transformations across Southwest Florida’s most distinguished addresses. Each project reflects who the homeowners are, their preferences, their rhythms, their life – not our personal style as the designer. What you’ll see here is the range of those preferences: coastal charm, traditional elegance, modern warmth, and everything between.

Full-Service Residential Interior Design

Four ways we work with discerning homeowners, each guided by the same philosophy of precision, communication, and enduring quality. Whether you’re building from the ground up or transforming an existing home, we bring the same level of attention, documentation, and accountability to every engagement.

New Construction

We join your project before the first wall rises. Working alongside your builder from the earliest stages, we coordinate every design decision: finishes, fixtures, lighting, millwork, electrical. Your new home is realized exactly as envisioned, with zero expensive surprises at the end.

Home Renovation

Renovating demands a different kind of expertise. You’re working within existing structures, navigating hidden conditions, and often living through the process. Our construction background means we anticipate the structural implications of every design decision before your contractor encounters them.

Designer for a Day

Not every project requires a full design engagement. Our Designer for a Day experience brings professional guidance directly to your home: a hands-on design session, a curated plan with furniture and accessory recommendations, and a follow-up call to keep your vision on track.

Consultation Session

For smaller decisions that still deserve expert direction. Whether you need help choosing paint colors, wallpaper, flooring, or furnishings, our consultation hours give you access to professional design advice in flexible 10-hour blocks.

Meet Your Sarasota Interior Designer

Three Decades. Fifty-Three Custom Homes. One Uncompromising Standard.

Lisa has spent thirty years where design meets construction. Not behind a desk, but on job sites, in stone yards, at kitchen tables with families articulating how they want to live. She’s read thousands of blueprints, coordinated hundreds of trades, and built a reputation for the kind of meticulous oversight that makes the difference between a house and a home.

A Designer Who Speaks Construction

Her work has appeared in American Farmhouse Style and Cowgirl Magazine. But the credential she values most is simpler: every client knows exactly what’s happening with their project. Every week. Without asking. That transparency comes from decades of managing complex builds where communication failures cost real money. She brought that discipline into design because she believes that designing beautiful homes deserves the same attention to detail as building them.

Interior Design Questions, Answered

What does a full-service interior designer actually do?

A full-service interior designer manages every aspect of your home’s design, from the earliest concept through final installation. That includes space planning, material selections, custom millwork design, lighting plans, furniture sourcing and coordination with your construction team. At Lisa Marie Design Co., full-service means we are involved from the moment plans are drawn through the day you walk into your finished home. We don’t hand off a mood board and disappear. We manage the entire process so nothing falls through the cracks.

If you want your new home to feel intentional from the moment you step inside, yes. The most costly design mistakes happen during construction, not after. Choosing finishes, fixtures, lighting layouts, and millwork details after framing is complete leads to compromises, change orders, and expensive corrections. When we join your project before the first wall rises, every decision is coordinated with your builder from the start. Your electrical rough-in accounts for your art lighting. Your plumbing layout supports your dream kitchen. Your home is built right the first time.

Three decades of construction experience. Lisa spent her career on job sites before she ever presented a mood board. That means we understand how materials are installed, how they age, and how they perform under the specific conditions of your home. We don’t just select beautiful finishes. We know what happens behind the wall, beneath the floor, and above the ceiling. That construction fluency, combined with weekly client updates and meticulous project documentation, is what sets our work apart.

We serve Sarasota and Manatee County, including Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Bird Key, Lido Key, Casey Key, Anna Maria Island, Palmer Ranch, Lakewood Ranch, The Founders Club, University Park, Downtown Sarasota, and Bradenton. Our studio in Bradenton places us within easy reach of both counties’ most prestigious residential communities.

Every project is unique and we provide an estimated timeline in your proposal. The design phase takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the size of your project. From there, ordering, furniture production, shipping, and project management can take anywhere from 16 to 24 weeks or more. A typical furnishing project takes about 16 to 20 weeks from start to finish, and a renovation or build project can take a year or more. We recommend securing a designer 6 to 8 months in advance of any upcoming deadlines.

Our process begins with a complimentary 15-minute phone call. We’ll discuss your project goals, timeline, and budget. We’ll share about our process to determine if we’re a good fit and answer any questions you have about working together. If we’re aligned, the next step is a one-hour in-home consultation where we walk through your space, take notes, and gather the information we need to prepare a detailed proposal.
