About This Project
The Challenge
The Approach
To achieve a classic, enduring look, we selected a mix of stone, shake shingle, and lap siding for the exterior. These materials not only support the architectural style but also require minimal maintenance.
Inside, we layered antiques with new pieces to create a sense of history and authenticity. Antique doors, cabinetry, furniture, and décor were used throughout to give the home character. Details like glass transoms and classic tile patterns help the home feel as though it has evolved over time.
Durability remained a priority, so we incorporated engineered hardwood flooring, tile, and performance fabrics throughout. Two large bunk rooms were designed to accommodate the number of guests the homeowners plan to host. We also used custom upholstery to give many of the furnishings a distinctive, one-of-a-kind feel.
The Result
The finished home feels established and timeless—like it has been part of the landscape for generations. It functions exactly as intended, serving as a gathering place for family and friends while also supporting quieter, everyday living.
The main floor offers generous spaces for entertaining, while areas like the library and sunroom provide more intimate places to relax. The basement is designed with kids and teens in mind, creating a space of their own. A standout feature is the curly slide connecting the main floor to the basement playroom—a detail that has become a favorite for guests of all ages.
